Block apps with an NFC card: How Doplock works

The Doplock NFC card is your physical key for intentional unlocking. Set up app blocking on your iPhone, then hold the linked card near your phone when the app prompts you to unlock.

What the card does and what the app handles

The card does not install software or block apps by itself. You need the Doplock app, completed setup and the required Screen Time permission. Select apps and activate your block in the app. The linked NFC card is used for the deliberate step of unlocking.

The Doplock Card needs no battery or charging cable. Give it a particular place: on a shelf, beside your desk or outside the room where you want to concentrate.

Get started with the Focus Card

  1. Check the app: open Doplock in the App Store and confirm compatibility with your iPhone.
  2. Complete setup: sign in and follow the activation and Screen Time permission steps.
  3. Link your card: redeem the included activation code and follow the in-app linking instructions.
  4. Choose your apps: select available apps or categories for your focused time.
  5. Unlock intentionally: bring the card to your iPhone when prompted to scan.

Focus Card or a separate activation code?

The Focus Card suits you if you want the physical card and activation together. Its personal activation code is included.

The separate Doplock Code activates Doplock for use with a compatible NFC card you already own. It does not replace a physical card. Do not assume every NFC tag is compatible. If unsure, ask Doplock support before buying.

Check the Doplock shop for current prices, availability and delivery information.

An everyday example

Before working on a project, choose your distracting apps, activate the block and put your card out of reach. When you decide to take a break, get up and collect it. Observe your own routine to see whether that extra step helps you.

iPhone and Android

Doplock currently targets iPhone. Android is planned. Check the current App Store requirements: the card alone is not enough, and setup, permissions and the app need to work together.

For an overview, read blocking apps on iPhone. Visit the Doplock FAQ for setup and order questions.

Check your device, card and activation

The workflow described here requires an NFC-capable iPhone. Doplock’s App Store listing currently requires iOS 18.0 or later (checked on 31 October 2026). A listing for other Apple devices does not automatically confirm support for NFC card unlocking on those devices. Android is not currently offered as a supported product.

The Focus Card is a physical NFC card with an activation code included. The separately purchased code is digital and does not replace a card: you need your own compatible NFC card. Confirm compatibility before buying. See the Doplock FAQ for more answers and compare the card and code in the shop.
